New York Yankees and Scotts Bring Yankee Stadium to Fans' Backyards

NEW YORK and MARYSVILLE, Ohio, March 24 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- New York Yankees fans can grow their own little piece of Yankee Stadium in their backyard this spring. The Scotts Company has developed products for homeowners with the same Scotts fertilizer technology and grass seed varieties being used at Yankee Stadium in 2011. This product is a component of a new multi-faceted relationship between the New York Yankees, Yankee Stadium Head Groundskeeper Dan Cunningham and Scotts, the Official Lawn Care Company of the Yankees and Major League Baseball.

Yankee Stadium Lawn Fertilizer and Yankee Stadium Grass Seed Mix will be available at Lowe's as well as in hardware stores and garden centers throughout the greater New York area starting in March.  The seed products will also be available online for fans across the country through retailers Amazon.com, Lowes.com and AceHardware.com.  The products are specifically designed to give consumers big league results without the daily attention of a professional grounds crew.

In addition, Scotts will work with Cunningham to develop online videos and brochures containing lawn care tips and groundskeeper secrets.  

The multi-faceted agreement will be supported throughout the greater New York area via co-branded advertising and promotions.  On May 24, a Scotts promotional night will be held at Yankee Stadium with the first 20,000 fans in attendance receiving a Yankees/Scotts giveaway.  

Scotts began its relationship with Major League Baseball in 2010 and also has produced grass seed and fertilizer mixes for fans of the Boston Red Sox (Fenway Park), Chicago Cubs (Wrigley Field), Cincinnati Reds (Great American Ballpark), Philadelphia Phillies (Citizens Bank Park) and St. Louis Cardinals (Busch Stadium).
