NiSource Names Hall Senior Vice President, Development for Primary Energy, Inc.

    MERRILLVILLE, Ind., April 18 /PRNewswire/ -- NiSource Inc. (NYSE:   NI)
 today announced that Dean H. Hall has been promoted to senior vice president,
 development, of its Primary Energy, Inc. subsidiary. His appointment was
 effective April 1, 2001.
     Hall is responsible for all phases of project development for the company,
 including leading Primary Energy and the industrial energy team in the
 development of new energy projects. He continues to report to Primary Energy
 President Joe Turner and serves on the management committees for the
 alliances.

 position and is fully qualified to deliver new projects to Primary Energy and
 its alliances," Turner said.
     Hall joined NiSource in 1993 as a principal executive for industrial
 marketing and has been with Primary Energy since its inception in 1996 as vice
 president of development. Prior to joining NiSource, Hall spent 21 years at
 Inland Steel where he held positions as director of energy purchasing and
 general manager of operations. Before accepting employment with Inland Steel,
 he served as a lieutenant for the U.S. Naval Civil Engineer Corps.
     Hall holds a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering and materials
 science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and master's degrees
 in metallurgy from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and in business
 administration from the University of Chicago.
