Norman Resident Selected to Head Statewide Physician Spouses' Association

    OKLAHOMA CITY, April 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Linda Leemaster, wife of Jay
 Leemaster, MD, of Norman, will be installed as President of the Oklahoma State
 Medical Association (OSMA) Alliance on Saturday, April 28, 2001, during the
 group's annual meeting of its House of Delegates, the policy-making body of
 the Alliance.
     Mrs. Leemaster has been actively involved in the Alliance since 1985,
 serving at both the state and county levels.  With the OSMA Alliance,
 Mrs. Leemaster has held several positions culminating in her installation as
 President, including President-elect, First Vice President, Treasurer, and
 Recording Secretary.  She also served on the Oklahoma State Medical
 Association's Council on Professional Communications in 2000-2001.  The
 Cleveland-McClain County Medical Society Alliance has also benefited from
 Mrs. Leemaster's leadership; she has served at the local level as President,
 President-elect, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Legislative Chair,
 and has participated on various committees and fundraising events.  Other
 organizations with which Mrs. Leemaster is affiliated are the Assistance
 League of Norman and the McFarlin Memorial United Methodist Church and its
 committees.
     Mrs. Leemaster holds an associate degree in business from Oklahoma State
 University.  She currently works as office administrator for Eye Care
 Oklahoma, Inc., where her husband practices.  The Leemasters have one
 daughter, Brooke, who works as the Marketing/Public Relations Director for
 First Look Eyewear.
     Friends, family, and colleagues will gather to honor Mrs. Leemaster and
 Gary F. Strebel, MD, who will be inaugurated as OSMA President, during the
 black-tie banquet to be held this Friday evening, April 27, 2001, at the
 National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City.
     The Oklahoma State Medical Association Alliance is an organization of
 physician spouses from across the state that assists the OSMA in its programs
 to improve the quality of life through health education and services.
 Membership in the Alliance is open to the spouse of any physician member of
 the OSMA and is a unified body with the constituent county Alliances and the
 American Medical Association Alliance.  Specific issues addressed by programs
 and services created and implemented by the Alliance include violence
 prevention, tobacco use prevention education, and medical education.
