North Plains Systems Reinforces its Global Leadership in Digital Asset Management with the Release of TeleScope(TM) Enterprise 6.1

Apr 10, 2001, 01:00 ET from North Plains Systems Corp.

    BOSTON, April 10 /PRNewswire/ -- (Seybold Seminars Booth #313) -- North
Plains Systems Corp. (http://www.northplains.com), the global leader in
enterprise-wide Digital Asset Management (DAM), today unveiled the newest
release of its flagship product, TeleScope(TM). TeleScope Enterprise 6.1 is
the foundation of a global DAM solution designed to help organizations
systematically catalog, retrieve and reuse their digital files in order to
transform them into strategic, multi-functional rich-media assets.
TeleScope Enterprise 6.1 is the latest edition of the industry's only
enterprise-wide distributed DAM architecture. It includes TeleScope's database
abstraction layer, called Database Brokers, which provides a fault-tolerant
cross-platform interface to leading database manufactures like Oracle,
Microsoft and Informix. Database Brokers communicate with both TeleScope
clients and external systems through North Plains' designed XML
standard-MIMiX(TM) (Metadata Interchange Model in XML). MIMiX, is the DAM
industry's only dynamic data model for the exchange of assets and their
metadata, providing easy integration between disparate systems. As the only
enterprise-wide DAM product that is fully cross-platform, TeleScope Enterprise
6.1 leads the industry with its natural language searching, video management,
and Microsoft Office integration including PowerPoint, Word and Excel.
"Our TeleScope Enterprise technology continues its leadership in digital
asset management," said Hassan Kotob, President and CEO of North Plains
Systems. "A cross-platform, collaborative solution, TeleScope Enterprise is
designed to help global organizations enhance communication, increase
productivity, protect digital content and manage their global brands."
NPS has extended its QuarkXPress integration, which allows users to "flip"
through color previews, copy and paste text, and extract linked images, to
other document types like Word, PowerPoint and 40 additional document formats.
Detailed multi-page views of these documents can be accessed directly from
within TeleScope and TeleScope.web(TM) without the need of the authoring
 application.
Enhancing TeleScope's multi-page document integration, TeleScope
Enterprise 6.1 offers built-in full text searching. The new Content Search
includes a "Conceptual" search, a simple natural language query, and an
"Advanced" search, allowing users to choose between prefix, binary operations,
 phrasing, proximity and stemming.
TeleScope Enterprise 6.1 also gives global departments the ability to
simplify the user interface by only showing metadata fields that are
appropriate for the file type, class or project that it belongs to.
