Northeastern University Launches Bouve Institute for Healthcare Leadership and Professional Development

    BOSTON, Oct. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Northeastern University today will launch
 the Bouve Institute for Healthcare Leadership and Professional Development,
 providing opportunities for career advancement and professional development
 within the health sciences. U.S. Assistant Surgeon General, Dr. Susan
 Blumenthal is the guest speaker at today's launch reception at Northeastern's
 Curry Student Center. She will speak about "Healthcare Challenges and
 Opportunities in the 21st Century."
     The Bouve Institute was created through a partnership between the Bouve
 College of Health Sciences and Northeastern University's School of
 Professional and Continuing Studies. Its primary purpose is to develop leaders
 in healthcare through continuing and executive education programs. The
 Institute supports the Northeastern University mission as a practice-oriented,
 student-centered, urban research institution.
     "The Institute aims to improve worldwide healthcare delivery and clinical
 outcomes through training and professional development, filling the gaps in
 health professions education," said Lea Johnson, Director, Bouve Institute for
 Healthcare Leadership and Professional Development, Northeastern University.
 "We look forward to developing partnerships with healthcare leadership, and
 reviewing current research in order to identify emerging professional
 development trends in healthcare."
     The Institute will provide healthcare professionals with national and
 international opportunities for professional development and in-depth learning
 through specialty conferences, grand rounds, credit and non-credit courses,
 certificate programs and healthcare leadership offerings. It will also provide
 a forum for professionals to continue to learn from the best in the field and
 offer career ladders for health care workers at all levels. In addition, the
 Institute will partner with local community colleges to provide access to
 healthcare education and careers for all health professionals.
