 Northwest Airlines (Nasdaq: NWAC) announced today the addition of two routes
 and the expansion of a third route from its hub of Memphis, Tenn.
     Beginning June 1, Northwest will fly one daily nonstop trip between
 Memphis and Greensboro, N.C., using a 100-seat McDonnell-Douglas DC9.
 Northwest currently services Greensboro with four daily nonstops from its
 Detroit hub.

     Beginning June 15, Northwest will fly three daily nonstops each way
 between Memphis and Springfield, Ill., the capital of the state.  Springfield
 becomes the seventh Illinois city Northwest serves.  All flights will be
 operated by Northwest Airlink partner Express I, using the 33-seat Saab 340
 turboprop aircraft.

 service between the two cities on January 31 of this year.  Due to the success
 of the route, Northwest will continue this service with one daily flight from
