Supermarket Industry

Apr 27, 2001, 01:00 ET from Notifact

FAIRFIELD, N.J. and CONYERS, Ga., April 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Notifact, the
leader in wireless equipment monitoring, and Com-Trol, an Invensys Group
Company, today announced an agreement to develop and market Notifact-ready
"plug and play" communications for Com-Trol's state of the art Energy
Management and Control System. The Notifact Wireless Monitoring System (WMS)
will provide bi-directional communications capabilities to the Com-Trol
System. Notifact WMS provides real-time monitoring of HVAC/R equipment
without dedicated phone lines by applying Internet server and wireless
 technologies.
"This agreement will allow us to capitalize on the market strength and
position of both companies to offer owners and facility managers the greatest
reliability for critical food storage and energy management applications,"
Kevin Duffy, Vice President, Sales and Marketing, Notifact, said. "By
applying the Notifact wireless monitoring system, Com-Trol now offers
customers the ability to notify them of an equipment alarm or pending failure
... all without complex modems and expensive phone lines."
"Plug and play" connections will enable every alarm point configured on
the Com-Trol System to be communicated wirelessly, direct to Com-Trol 's
Integrated Services Bureau or facility managers via pagers, cellular phones,
faxes and e-mail. The patented, web-based alarm notification system will be
completely configurable at the Com-Trol website. The Notifact alert message
will provide location, equipment identification, and the specific alarm
 conditions at the site.
Notifact's technology will allow Com-Trol system owners to remotely
configure and send commands to the system via standard web browser or WAP
communicating device. Service providers will respond with the most qualified
personnel, prepared with the proper parts and tools, greatly reducing
equipment down time and costly business disruptions.
Notifact uses a full duplex, automatic roaming, kilobyte packet data
messaging service. This means that, unlike paging based services, the same
Notifact system will operate reliably in metropolitan, suburban and rural
areas on the growing cellular network. Com-Trol now provides a single wireless
monitoring solution to its customers anywhere in North America.
"The Notifact partnership really made sense on several levels," Clay
Newman, Vice President and General Manager of Com-Trol said. "Real-time
notification of equipment malfunctions is essential to reducing energy costs,
eliminating product loss, improving response and service and increasing
 equipment life."
Com-Trol is the leading supplier of turnkey electronic control systems
integrating HVAC, refrigeration and lighting control in supermarket and other
food and non-food retail facilities. Com-Trol designs, develops, manufactures,
installs, services, and markets a complete line of electronic controllers that
provide accurate state of the art control, monitor, and alarm functions. Com-
Trol equipment is used by industry leading retail facility operators.
The Notifact Wireless Monitoring system applies Internet server and wireless
technologies to provide real-time monitoring of HVAC/R equipment. Notifact
Corp. develops complete custom monitoring solutions for equipment
manufacturers, contractors and building owners. These solutions include
branded websites, plug and play equipment and integration with service
dispatch/CRM systems. Notifact transmits regular diagnostic information, as
well as providing early warning for potential system failures. Wireless
technology utilizing pagers, cellular phones, and the Internet allows for
instant notification of any irregularities, which results in more cost-
effective and timely system repairs and fewer business disruptions. Notifact's
OEM partners include Lennox Industries, Heatcraft Refrigeration Products,
