Novo Nordisk Offers $75,000 Reward!

Ideas Wanted For Most Innovative Internet Solutions to Aid People With

Diabetes; Visit www.inspireinternet.com

Apr 24, 2001, 01:00 ET from Novo Nordisk

COPENHAGEN, Denmark, April 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Diabetes care company Novo
Nordisk is looking for a few good ideas -- three good ideas to be precise.
The company known for innovative products for people with diabetes is
prepared to pay $20,000 for each of the three best ideas it receives, and
another $15,000 total, for five runners up in each of three categories -- a
sum of $75,000 -- in prize money for entrants who come up with the best ways
to use the Internet to help people with diabetes.
The ideas the company wants to reward do not have to be related to the
company or any of its products -- all they have to do is help the people Novo
Nordisk wants to help -- people who experience diabetes every day.
"We have learned over the last couple of years that the Internet works
best where it delivers extra value to healthcare providers and people with
diabetes -- not where we try to use it as a sales or marketing tool," Jens
Holmstrup Olsen, Head of Novo Nordisk E-Business, said.
The three categories in the Internet Inspiration Incentive competition
are: an idea submitted by a person with diabetes or a family member of a
person with diabetes; an idea submitted by a physician who cares for people
with diabetes; and an idea submitted by a nurse who cares for people with
 diabetes.
"Who is more likely to come up with innovative ways to use the Internet to
help people with diabetes than the people themselves and those who are close
to them?" Jens Holmstrup Olsen asked. "We have a 75-year history of
delivering valuable services such as education, research and treatment
guidelines, and we are happiest when we can use the Internet to do these
things better, simpler, quicker, cheaper and for more people than ever
 before."
Finalists will be announced on the website in early June 2001. The three
$20,000 winners will be invited to present their ideas at the 61st annual
American Diabetes Association scientific session, being held 22-26 June 2001
 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
To enter the Internet Inspiration Incentive competition, please post
submissions at http://www.inspireinternet.com. In order to qualify for cash
awards, all submissions must be received no later than 31 May 2001.
