NSI Declares Quarterly Dividend

    ATLANTA, April 4 /PRNewswire/ -- The board of directors of National
 Service Industries (NYSE:   NSI) today declared a regular quarterly dividend of
 33 cents per share.  The dividend is payable on May 1, 2001 to shareholders of
 record on April 16, 2001.
 
     National Service Industries, Inc., with fiscal year 2000 sales of
 $2.6 billion, has four business segments -- lighting equipment, chemicals,
 textile rental, and envelopes.  Dividends have been paid for the past 65 years
