    ITHACA, N.Y., April 12 /PRNewswire/ -- The board of directors of New York
 State Electric & Gas Corporation (NYSEG) on April 11, 2001 declared the
 following quarterly dividends on preferred stock payable July 1, 2001 to
 holders of record at the close of business June 15, 2001.

              3.75%                          93.75 cents
             4-1/2%                          $1.125
