Ohio Taxpayers Association PAC Endorses Jim Petro

PAC Will Work to Build Conservative Support

COLUMBUS, Ohio, April 23 /PRNewswire Interactive News Release/ -- The Ohio
Taxpayers Association PAC (OTA PAC) announced today that it is endorsing Jim
Petro to be the Republican nominee for Ohio Attorney General. "Jim Petro has
built a strong pro-taxpayer record throughout his long career in public
office," said Scott A. Pullins, OTA PAC Executive Director. "His hard work
has exposed public corruption and saved taxpayers millions."
Pullins noted that the decision of Speaker Householder to chair Petro's
campaign was a major factor in the decision to issue such an early
endorsement. "Speaker Householder's decision to play a large role in Auditor
Petro's campaign was a strong signal to us of the importance of this race,"
said Pullins. "Speaker Householder and his team have earned a strong
reputation for success in elections. We look forward to helping them build
conservative support at the grassroots for Jim Petro and secure his nomination
 for Attorney General."
Pullins held out hope that a primary between Jim Petro and State Treasurer
Joe Deters could still be avoided. "While Joe Deters is starting to build a
record as an elected official, he has been in statewide office for only 28
months -- far too short a time for most Ohioans to get to know him. The state
would be better served if he simply sought re-election to the office he
 currently holds."
Pullins also expressed concern about Deters' efforts to defeat
conservative House candidates. "Joe Deters raised and spent over $100,000
 against more qualified conservative House candidates last year in the primary;
these efforts backfired and were part of the reason why a Cincinnati-area
Republican lost a seat in last year's general election. Joe Deters needs to
do some fence mending with conservatives, and endorsing Jim Petro for Attorney
General would be a step in the right direction."
