NEW YORK, Aug. 12, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- OnDeck®, a leading platform for small business lending, along with Minor League Baseball™, America's leader for affordable family entertainment, announced today that Brooklyn, New York-based Local Office Landscape and Urban Design has received the Small Business of the Month Award. OnDeck launched the award program in partnership with Minor League Baseball to recognize small businesses that are making a positive impact on their local communities. In addition to throwing out the ceremonial first pitch at the Brooklyn Cyclones game, Local Office Landscape and Urban Design owners Jennifer Bolstad and Walter Meyer will be presented with the award in an on-field pregame ceremony.

Local Office Landscape and Urban Design was founded in 2006 by Bolstad and Meyer to address the unique challenges of coastal areas like Coney Island, including sea level rise, hurricanes and storm surges. The full service landscape architecture and urban design firm specializes in coastal urban projects and provides services for projects ranging from Brooklyn backyards, terraces and green roofs, to projects as large as the city itself. In the last two years, the business has been recognized by President Barack Obama and the Economic Development Corporation for reconstruction efforts related to Hurricane Sandy.

"We created our Small Business of the Month Award program to recognize businesses that are making a positive impact in their local communities," said Andrea Gellert, chief marketing officer, OnDeck. "Local Office Landscape and Urban Design is literally rooted in the homes and commercial properties they service; their commitment to local design and environmental resilience set them apart during the review process. We are delighted to honor Jennifer and Walter at the Cyclones game this Friday."

The couple will receive 10 VIP tickets to the August 14 Brooklyn Cyclones game, an on-field photo opportunity and will throw out the ceremonial first pitch.

"We love Brooklyn's creative energy," said Meyer. "So many of our collaborations have grown from being entrenched in a community of like-minded artists and professionals, and it's gratifying to contribute to that spirit."

Local Office Landscape and Urban Design joins select small businesses from throughout the U.S. who will be recognized by OnDeck and Minor League Baseball across more than 20 activation clubs this season.
