Operation Smile Appoints Janet V. Green as Chief Executive Officer

    NORFOLK, Va., April 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Operation Smile announces that it
 has appointed Janet V. Green to the position of Chief Executive Officer.  Ms.
 Green will be based in Norfolk and will provide strategic direction to execute
 the organization's activities in support of its worldwide medical programs.
     Steve Reynolds, Vice Chair of the Operation Smile National Board of
 Directors, chaired the CEO Search Committee and is pleased with the outcome,

     A long-time Democratic organizer, Ms. Green spent more than 15 years
 working in leadership positions throughout the Democratic Party.  From 1997 -
 1999, she served as Executive Director for the Democratic National Committee,
 reducing an $18 million debt to under $800,000 in less than one year. From
 1995 - 1996, Ms. Green held the position of Deputy CEO for the 1996 Democratic
 National Convention.
     Demonstrating an early commitment to the importance of volunteers and at
 the special request of President Bill Clinton, Ms. Green served as the
 Director of Management for the Corporation for National Service/AmeriCorps
 from 1993 - 1995, a new domestic policy initiative fashioned after the Peace
 Corps.  In 1993, Ms. Green served as Director of Operations for the White
 House, directing the transition prior to Inauguration Day. Ms. Green earned
 her Bachelor of Arts in Social Work at Michigan State University.
