Optate Partners With The Indiana Manufacturers Association

Deal offers members preferred rates for online BENEFITcompanion

Apr 30, 2001, 01:00 ET from Optate, Inc.

ANN ARBOR, Mich., April 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Indiana Manufacturers
Association (IMA) members and their employees can now participate in a web-
based program that manages their health care benefits using BENEFITcompanion
from Optate, Inc., an Ann Arbor, Michigan-based company.
Through a partnership agreement, IMA members may purchase Optate's
 services at preferred member rates.
Optate's e-benefits portal combines best-of-breed solutions that enable
employees to make informed choices about their benefits and health care
options. For example, IMA members and their employees can use Optate
BENEFITcompanion(TM) to enroll in benefit programs, locate doctors, create
tailored comparison charts among several benefit plans and obtain valuable
 health and fitness information.
"Many companies supply only one or two pieces of the benefits puzzle. At
Optate we provide all the right pieces when we search out the best benefit
services, combine them in an easy-to-use Internet platform and tailor the
solution to meet the individual needs of each company," said David Vinson,
 founder and CEO of Optate.
"E-benefit solutions are on the cutting edge of options for mid-size and
large employers when searching for ways to reduce costs and increase
productivity," said Jeffrey Goodwin, Executive Vice President of IMASERV,
Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of the IMA with an extensive array of
insurance and financial services for IMA members.
"By offering our members Optate's 'state-of-the-art' program at IMA
member-only special rates, we can truly provide the best of both worlds,"
 Goodwin said.
The Optate team customizes each site with specialized information on a
company's plan descriptions, options, frequently asked questions and other
 materials.
Optate BENEFITcompanion(TM) helps companies save money through reduced
administrative costs and productivity improvements. Optate executives, in
conjunction with leading benefits consulting firm, The Hunter Group, created a
proprietary "return on investment" calculator to estimate potential annual
savings. Such analysis has shown that, depending on the size and terms of the
contract, companies can save up to $200 per employee and achieve rapid payback
on investment in 18 months or less.
"But it's more than just saving money -- we help clients empower and
motivate their employees," Vinson said. "For example, a 2000 Harris poll
indicated that some 98 million people go online looking for health
information. If companies meet that expectation and make it easy for their
workforce to log on and find this type of information, they gain an important
competitive advantage in attracting and retaining employees."
