Optical Access, Inc., Delivers Gigabit-Speed Optical Wireless Systems

Carrier-class Speed and Service of TereScope(TM) 1000G Allows

Service Providers to Offer Robust Data Services Quickly

Apr 24, 2001, 01:00 ET from Optical Access, Inc.

DENVER, April 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Optical Access, Inc., a designer and
supplier of optical wireless and IP switching and routing solutions, announced
the availability of its gigabit-speed optical wireless system that enables
services providers and enterprises to easily deploy a cost effective, high
capacity solution for the last mile.
The TereScope(TM) 1000G uses optical wireless technology, or free-space
laser systems, to transmit high capacity data communications from
point-to-point or in a mesh topology. The system easily integrates into a
Gigabit Ethernet network infrastructure, accommodating data rates up to 1.25
 Gbps full duplex.
The TereScope product family provides a scaleable wireless alternative to
costly and time-consuming installation of fiber, the hassles of leased lines,
or the need to acquire spectrum licenses.
"With more than 4,000 TereScope links operating around the world, we
understand the kind of last-mile solutions customers are demanding, and the
availability of the gigabit product meets their evolving needs," said Jim
Goodman, senior vice president of sales and marketing, Optical Access. "We
will continue to introduce higher capacity, longer range optical wireless
products that allow our customers to deploy cost-effective, revenue-generating
 services."
Optical Access will demonstrate its new TereScope 1000G as part of its
Optical Access Mesh solution at its exhibit during Networld+Interop, May 8-10,
 Las Vegas, Nev., Booth #2301.
The TereScope 1000G features a modular design that will make future
upgrades and changes in the field easy to accommodate. It also offers
integrated network management software for remote monitoring and management,
and employs advanced camera alignment for simple and precise installation.
"Existing and emerging service providers can integrate the TereScope
system into a metropolitan or local area network infrastructure or build a new
high-capacity overlay using our powerful IP switching, routing and bandwidth
management solutions," explains Goodman. "Designed to carrier-class quality
and reliability standards, our products can enable the deployment of
high-capacity, secure networks to deliver bandwidth-intensive services to
 enterprises and consumers worldwide."
