ORBIT/FR Introduces New ASCENT System for Cellular Antenna Measurements; Presentation at CTIA Wireless 2001 Follows Financial Turnaround in FY2000

Apr 02, 2001, 01:00 ET from ORBIT/FR, Inc.

    HORSHAM, Pa., April 2 /PRNewswire/ -- ORBIT/FR, Inc. (Nasdaq: ORFR), a
leading producer of sophisticated, automated microwave test and measurement
systems for the wireless communication, automotive, satellite, and
aerospace/defense industries, introduced ASCENT, the first complete turnkey
measurement system for cellular handsets and antennas, at the world's largest
 wireless show, CTIA Wireless 2001.
ASCENT is an advanced spherical cellular near-field measurement system
that provides exceptional measurement accuracy, repeatability and speed at
standard wireless bands. Measurement time is under 180 seconds@ 2GHz. By
offering a turnkey solution, the Company is facilitating rapid deployment of
 this measurement system.
David Bernstein, ORBIT/FR President and Chief Operating Officer, noted,
"CTIA Wireless 2001, the premier show attended by major cellular
manufacturers, was the perfect place to introduce our no-compromise solution
for cellular antenna measurement. We are very pleased with the feedback of
potential customers. Indeed, within the next few months, we will be deploying
ASCENT at our headquarters so visiting customers and prospects can see it in
 operation."
Mr. Bernstein continued, "We took this opportunity to introduce our newest
product, because last year's turnaround efforts are succeeding. FY2000 saw a
30% improvement in sales coupled with an 18.3% improvement in gross margins.
We booked record level business and, in fact, our 1999 backlog doubled! These
are the tangible results of a year-long restructuring and reorganization of
the company. We streamlined our overhead structure by merging and integrating
management positions. We strengthened our sales and marketing programs by
building a national sales rep network, and by increasing our visibility at
trade shows and symposiums in 2001 to reach new clients and introduce new
products -- which is why we made our ASCENT presentation at the CTIA show.
Based on the CTIA show feedback, along with that from the Antenna Measurement
Techniques Association Annual Symposium and the Microwave Theory and
Techniques Symposium at the end of last year, it is evident that ORBIT/FR is
again being well received in the market with a highly positive image."
