OTG Software Announces New Product, DiskXtender for Linux, With Support for Red Hat Linux

Jan 03, 2001, 00:00 ET from OTG Software

BETHESDA, Md., Jan. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- OTG Software (Nasdaq: OTGS), a
software developer of online storage, data access and email management
solutions, today announced DiskXtender(TM) for Linux, new storage software
that supports the Red Hat (Nasdaq: RHAT) Linux platform. This new product
brings the benefits of DiskXtender's data storage and access software to this
open source platform and to customers operating in multiple platform
environments, enabling true heterogeneous and centralized storage management.
OTG is now further extending its expertise in Windows 2000/NT storage systems
to Linux, building on its recent announcement of DiskXtender for UNIX.
According to IDC, Linux storage software today is a $50 million market and
is expected to grow at an annual rate of 66.6 percent from 2000-2003. With
more data centers using Linux to run their web servers and web hosting, there
is an increasing demand for storage systems to support the Internet
infrastructure. For example, web pages accounted for over 21 terabytes of
storage in 2000. There is also an increasing demand for storage systems that
can support the data intensive applications running on these servers. As the
Linux platform is increasingly used for more mission-critical applications,
OTG's DiskXtender is designed to provide cost effective data storage while
 allowing transparent access to data.
"With Linux predicted to have increasingly high rates of adoption, we're
excited to introduce DiskXtender support for this fast growth, open source
platform," said Richard Kay, president and CEO of OTG Software. "A large
percentage of our customer base is operating in a heterogeneous environment,
so we are broadening the scope of our storage management solutions to a full
 range of platforms."
DiskXtender for Linux is the premier solution for intelligent, automated
storage management and access to enterprise Linux data. The product provides
fast access to unlimited storage of critical business data from the desktop,
corporate intranets or the Web, improving productivity and lowering the cost
of ownership of mission critical data. DiskXtender for Linux was released for
general availability on December 29, 2000. For more information, visit the
