LAS VEGAS, April 21 /PRNewswire Interactive News Release/ -- OTG Software
(Nasdaq: OTGS) today announced at the National Association of Broadcasters
(NAB) 2001 Show in Las Vegas, NV that it has teamed with ASACA to provide core
video archive components for key OTG OEM Leitch Technology Corporation
(Nasdaq: LVID; Toronto: LTV), a leading manufacturer of broadcast hardware.
 Using OTG's DiskXtender(R) 2000 software and ASACA's TeraCart DVD-RAM library,
Leitch (NAB Booth # L8620) will be demonstrating its archive solution designed
to address the burgeoning storage requirements in the video industry.
"The combination of DiskXtender and the ASACA TeraCart(R) DVD-RAM Library
creates an outstanding platform for storage and retrieval upon which Leitch
has standardized its solution," says Kirk Wilson, ASACA Director of
Operations. "Leitch has used our technology to create a much-needed storage
solution for a rapidly growing market."
"DiskXtender is the software component that migrates data seamlessly to
and from the ASACA library to allow 30,000 hours of video storage," said Peter
Smails, Vice President, Product Management, OTG Software. "We're proud to be
the enabling software that allows Leitch, a preeminent player in broadcast
technology, to deliver its solution to the video market."
DiskXtender 2000 is OTG's flagship product for comprehensive storage
management on Windows NT/2000 platforms. DiskXtender 2000 provides storage
virtualization, allowing the file system to expand automatically without
limitation. DiskXtender's unique direct read capability provides immediate
access to stored data, as local caching is not required. Robust migration
rules, complete media management capabilities and support for many type of
storage media and devices types are at the core of DiskXtender's automated
 storage management.
The capacity of the ASACA Digital Virtual Libraries (DVLs) enable
broadcasters to stage weeks of edited video and commercials on Leitch's Fibre
Channel RAID storage area network, ready for unattended playback.
With DVD-RAM technology, users can move to specific segments of the disc
for immediate playback or to edit files; the time-consuming task of fast-
forwarding or rewinding is eliminated. The 4.7GB (single-sided) or 9.4GB
 (double-sided) DVD-RAM discs provide more than 100,000 write/rewrite cycles
and a data life of more than 30 years for less than a penny per Megabyte. In
addition, the quality of audio and video stored on DVD-RAM is unaffected by
repeated playback, and it won't deteriorate over time as it does with tape.
