HOLLYWOOD, April 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Paramount Pictures announced the
launch of its new "Tomb Raider" Website today at
http://www.tombraidermovie.com. The new site is a full-screen cinematic
experience that brings movie fans directly into Lara Croft's world. "Tomb
Raider" opens in theaters everywhere on June 15, 2001.

This live action feature is inspired by the most successful interactive
video game character in history -- Lara Croft. Beautiful and brainy, Lara
(Angelina Jolie) is the heroine of Eidos Interactive's phenomenally successful
"Tomb Raider" game series. It is one woman's fearless quest criss-crossing
the globe, in an amazing attempt to save the world in this summer's action
 adventure.
"'Lara's World' is our 'thank you' to the online community who have been
enthusiastically supporting the movie since we started shooting last summer,"
says producer Lloyd Levin. "The new Website should create even more
excitement for fans anticipating the movie's release this June."
Using iPIX (Nasdaq: IPIX) technology, visitors to the site are able to
explore 360 degree panoramas of the sets and locations of one of this summer's
most anticipated movies. Over 50 different iPIX images will premiere online
before the film's release, allowing users to tour Lara's home in England,
Croft Manor, and journey to such exotic locales as the temples of Angkor Wat
in Cambodia and the glaciers of a wintry Iceland (standing in for Siberia in
the movie). Upon entering each "room," visitors will hear music and
background sounds that correspond to each scene, creating a complete immersive
you-are-there experience. Participants can navigate from room to room as
though they were moving through the real sets themselves.
In the true spirit of a Tomb Raider adventure, entry to certain areas of
Lara's World requires the visitor to find and solve a "key" to a locked door.
These ten mind-bending puzzles connect "Tomb Raider" to its origins as the
most popular interactive video game in history.
Another highlight of the Website is an extensive behind-the-scenes section
with details on the production including the crew's travels around the globe.
Video clips available in Quicktime and Real Player formats, exclusive iPIX and
production stills showcase the detailed work that occurred during the film's
six month shoot. Exclusive interviews with director Simon West ("Con-Air,"
"The General's Daughter") and production designer Kirk Petruccelli ("Mystery
Men") feed hungry "Tomb Raider" fans with a healthy amount of background
 information.
The site also contains links to the popular "Tomb Raider" trailers, an
on-demand version of a live Webcast from the set in November 2000, new
production stills, an archive of production sketches, exclusive screensavers,
wallpapers and the movie's exclusive official Webring.
The Movie Webring has linked to over 58 "Tomb Raider" movie fan sites
since its launch in February and is currently the only Movie Webring running
on an official studio Website. Visitors can download an exclusive online
style guide containing fonts, graphics and images so they can build their own
 "Tomb Raider" fan sites.
One of the final elements to the site will be an exclusive "Tomb Raider"
NeoPlanet Browser. This Web browser will provide a "Tomb Raider" entrance to
the Web, making surfing the Internet a "Tomb Raider" experience. The browser
will be available online in May.
Paramount Pictures began its "Tomb Raider" online campaign on October 27,
2000 with the launch of a teaser version of TombRaiderMovie.com to an online
audience hungry for any information they could get on the upcoming summer
release. In it's short history, the site has already received over 3.7
million visitors from over 126 different countries. Drawing over two times
the traffic of the site for last summer's blockbuster "M:I2,"
TombRaiderMovie.com is on track to be the most popular movie Website in
 Paramount history.
As the official movie Website, TombRaiderMovie.com is the place to go for
all the latest news on the action adventure experience of the summer. Fans
should look for upcoming announcements on new Web events, sweepstakes and
 more!
