ATLANTA, April 23 /PRNewswire Interactive News Release/ -- Pathfire (formerly Video Networks Inc.), a leading business-to-business provider of digital media content distribution and management services, today announced that it has signed agreements with Sinclair Broadcasting Group and Quorum Broadcasting to deploy Pathfire's Digital Media Gateway platform. These agreements will extend Pathfire's network of servers to more than 500 stations across the country. Pathfire's network already includes NBC and ABC affiliates. Pathfire's Digital Media Gateway is an on-demand, interactive system for managing and distributing content of many different types, including news, weather, sports, ads, features and stock footage, as well as syndicated and other long-form material. Stations receive this content in a digital format, and station personnel can access the material quickly and easily from their desktops. Interfaces to a wide variety of downstream gear enable stations to use the Digital Media Gateway to help manage the flow of content from multiple sources. Each station in Pathfire's network may receive a different mix of content, based on agreements with content providers. Because Pathfire's system is an IP-addressable network with built-in security, each station receives only the content that it is licensed to receive, whether that content is news, syndicated programming, ads or other types of content. Pathfire is expanding its footprint through agreements with broadcast groups to install its servers at their stations. In addition to aggregating content, station groups will also be able to use the Digital Media Gateway to manage the flow of content between stations and also use this system as a tool for sharing resources between stations. As part of its basic architecture, the Digital Media Gateway provides a tool set that makes it a logical building block to enable many of the numerous central casting topologies that station groups are considering. "Broadcast stations across the country recognize the value of Pathfire's Digital Media Gateway for the management, distribution and exchange of digital content. We are confident that these broadcast groups will be pleased with the cost-savings and efficiencies of our system," said Michael J. Eckert, Pathfire's CEO. "Our servers will function as the aggregation point for all kinds of content from many different sources. In addition, we offer features that will allow these groups to begin exploring ways to manage and exchange content between stations."
