Pennsylvania Gov. Ridge Administration to Mark National Youth Service Day And National Youth Service Week

 On behalf of Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Ridge, Labor and Industry Secretary Johnny
 J. Butler today announced that 10 programs under PennSERVE:  the Governor's
 Office of Citizen Service programs will hold projects commemorating National
 Youth Service Day, Saturday, April 21, and National Youth Service Week,
 Sunday, April 22, through Saturday, April 28.
     National Youth Service Day and National Youth Service Week are the largest
 service events in the world, engaging millions of young Americans and focusing
 national attention on the leadership of young people.
     PennSERVE is the Ridge Administration's lead agency in the promotion of
 community service, volunteering and citizenship in the Commonwealth.
 PennSERVE also administers AmeriCorps* State and community based Learn and
 Serve America programs in Pennsylvania funded through the Corporation for
 National Service.
