Pentair's Hoffman Unit Wins Occupational Safety Award

    ST. PAUL, Minn., April 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Pentair (NYSE:   PNR) announced
 today that its Hoffman Enclosures unit has been named a winner of the Award of
 Honor in Occupational Safety, to be presented at the 2001 Minnesota Safety &
 Health Conference on May 4 in Minneapolis.
     This year marks the third consecutive year that Hoffman has received the
 Award of Honor, which this year will be presented to only 24 of 202 Minnesota
 companies that will be recognized for their safety programs.
     The Award of Honor is the highest award given each year by the Minnesota
 Safety Council to recognize companies with "exceptional accomplishment in
 reduction of injuries and illnesses in the workplace."
     Hoffman is an Anoka, Minn.-based unit of Pentair's global Enclosures
 segment. In addition to its Anoka office and manufacturing location, Hoffman
 also has production facilities in Brooklyn Center, Minn.; Mount Sterling, Ky.;
