SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Pereira & O'Dell has been named "Small Agency of the Year" for the Western Region in Advertising Age's first annual Small Agency of the Year Awards. Pereira & O'Dell was chosen for a combination of reasons including strong growth, significant client wins and outstanding creative work in its first 18 months.

"We are thrilled to be recognized by AdAge for this award, especially among so many talented small agencies in our midst," said PJ Pereira, chief creative officer of Pereira & O'Dell. "As we continue to grow we're planning on being eligible for this award just this once," he quipped.

Since Pereira & O'Dell launched in March 2008, the agency has amassed a diverse client roster including Popchips, Corona, LEGO, Muscle Milk and Ubisoft, picking up two Gold pencils for LEGO at the 2009 One Show Awards. The agency also filled its talent stable with top talent stemming from creative, media, digital, music and film disciplines.

The agency recognition identifies Pereira & O'Dell's ability to compete with larger agencies. In winning the creative duties for University of Phoenix, Michael Sullivan, the school's senior VP-brand marketing and media said, "We talked to a lot of talented agencies, but we felt like they understood our cause and mission in a way that others didn't."

In its first year, the small agency awards received hundreds of applications from outstanding agencies with fewer than 75 employees worldwide. The team of judges were hand-picked from marquis global ad agencies including Crispin Porter + Bogusky and Goodby Silverstein & Partners.
