Pfizer Board Elects Henry McKinnell Chairman

    NEW YORK, April 26 /PRNewswire/ -- The board of directors of Pfizer Inc
 today elected Henry A. McKinnell, Ph.D., chairman, effective May 1, 2001.  A
 member of the board since May 1999, Hank McKinnell is president and chief
 executive officer of Pfizer Inc.
     Dr. McKinnell succeeds William C. Steere, Jr., as chairman.  In August of
 2000, Mr. Steere announced his intention to retire following today's annual
 shareholder meeting.
     The board today also elected as directors, with three-year terms that will
 expire in 2004, Mr. Steere, Dr. McKinnell, Mr. Robert N. Burt, Mr. W. Don
 Cornwell, Mr. Dana G. Mead and Dr. Ruth J. Simmons.
