    WASHINGTON, Nov. 7 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The following is a
statement of William V. Corr, Executive Director, Campaign for Tobacco-Free
 Kids Action Fund:

By electing Michael Nutter as Mayor, Philadelphia voters have chosen a
true champion of public health and the right to breathe clean, smoke-free
air. As a City Councilman, Michael Nutter led the long and successful fight
to pass Philadelphia's smoke-free workplace law. Philadelphians have
elected a mayor who is committed to protecting the health of all workers
 and families.

Councilman Nutter first introduced a smoke-free workplace bill in 2000
and for six years he worked tirelessly to pass a strong law. Because of his
efforts, on January 8, Philadelphia implemented a law making nearly all
Philadelphia workplaces, including restaurants and bars, smoke-free. Thanks
to Michael Nutter, Philadelphians no longer have to put their health at
risk in order to earn a paycheck or enjoy a night out. His leadership will
produce a healthier Philadelphia for generations to come.

It's time for every state and community, including Pennsylvania, to
enact comprehensive smoke-free laws that apply to all workplaces and
protect all workers and the public.
