MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., April 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Pinnacle Systems, Inc.
(Nasdaq: PCLE), a leader in streaming video solutions, today announced the new
 StreamFactory X2(TM) -- a high-powered version of its award-winning
StreamFactory Web Media Encoder. Sporting dual 1-GHz CPUs in a sleek
rack-mount package, StreamFactory X2 propels broadcast-quality video on
broadband networks with up to four independently sized streams in both Windows
and Real formats. In addition, the company also announced several new
accessories as well as the immediate online availability of the new version
1.1 software for existing StreamFactory customers.

"StreamFactory X2 redefines the playing field in broadband encoding," said
Greg Lowitz, general manager of Pinnacle System's webcasting solutions group.
"This supercharged encoder satisfies bandwidth-hungry applications, fueling
adoption of broadcast-quality video over broadband networks."
StreamFactory X2 complements the already popular single-CPU version and
targets content delivery networks and enterprises where premium-quality
multi-stream video is required. Several exiting new features, including
four-stream control from the HTML user interface as well as a
broadcast-quality logo/graphics inserter, enable corporate branding and ad
 insertion over the web.
Several new StreamFactory accessories are also being announced, including
a new DV module as well as the HiQ(TM) Audio/Video Pre-processor. The DV
module adds 1394 firewire capability to any StreamFactory and is a
field-installable option. The HiQ Pre-processor adds multi-band dynamic audio
processing and hardware-based video de-interlacing and noise reduction,
providing superior A/V quality at a fraction of the cost of separate outboard
 components.
StreamFactory X2 accepts all professional video and audio formats,
including Serial Digital (SDI), composite, Y/C, YUV, as well as embedded and
external AES/EBU digital audio, unbalanced and balanced XLR analog stereo
audio. An SDI active loop-through output with embedded digital audio is also
included to gang mirrored encoders for redundancy or to expand output capacity
 for more streams.
In addition, a handy CD writer and optional removable hard disk are ideal
 for archiving webcasts "to go."
Pinnacle Systems has also equipped StreamFactory X2 with an easy-to-use
HTML browser-based web interface supported on Microsoft Internet Explorer.
This powerful operator interface allows anyone -- including IT and video
professionals -- to stream live Internet video in multiple bit rates and
picture sizes for maximum audience coverage.

     Pricing
Customers can order StreamFactory X2 today. The base StreamFactory X2 with
dual 1-GHz CPUs, 512 MB of RAM and a high-speed internal hard disk carries a
suggested U.S. retail price of $14,999. The single CPU version of
StreamFactory has a suggested US retail price of $9,999 and is shipping now.
The DV/1394 Firewire option is $999 and HiQ Pre-processor is $2,999; both
accessories are expected to ship this summer. StreamFactory, StreamFactory X2
and the new DV and HiQ options will be shown at the NAB show in
