PITTSBURGH, Dec. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Boomerang Systems, Inc. (http://www.boomerangsystems.com) has created and installed the First Fully Automated Storage System in the World and for STORExpress (http://www.storexpress.com) in New Kensington, PA.

STORExpress will hold a grand opening and free to the public open house for the facility Tuesday, December 16, 2008 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at its New Kensington facility at 196 Coxcomb Hill Road -- about two miles from the famed Oakmont Country Club Golf Course. The six-level system is an extension of the Pittsburgh based STORExpress' conventional facility.

STORExpress tenants will utilize the Boomerang Automated Self Storage system by driving up to one of six ground floor loading bays, approach an access door and enter their specific access code into a keypad. After an average 90 second container retrieval time, the automated roll-up door unveils the tenant's personally locked storage unit. When the tenant is done loading or unloading his valuables, the system returns the storage container safely back inside the facility where it is inaccessible without the tenant's personal security code. Key features of the storage facility include a patent pending Padlock Plus(TM) security system that allows access to locker units only with entry of the proper security code, a safe and attractive common area adjacent to STORExpress, climate controlled insulated units and the convenience of drive up access to all units.

"This is a win, win, win for STORExpress and our Pittsburgh self storage customers. We maximize the usage of our land, offer a unique option that caters to the self storage consumer who wants the very best, and we generate a stronger brand marketing message," says STORExpress owner Steve Mitnick.

Founder of Boomerang Systems, Inc. and S&S Worldwide, Stan Checketts and his team of engineers are responsible for creating these cutting edge automated applications for both self-storage and parking. Checketts has helped create thrill rides in 27 countries worldwide; most noted the World's Tallest Thrill Ride (Stratosphere, Las Vegas), the World's First Air Powered Roller Coaster (Thrust 2000, Kings Dominion, VA) and the World's Fastest Roller Coaster (Dodonpa, Japan). In the Pittsburgh area, Checketts' company created Kennywood's SwingShot ride.
