Plymouth Art in the Park: Bigger and Better than Ever!

Apr 30, 2001, 01:00 ET from Plymouth Art in the Park

PLYMOUTH, Mich., April 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Over the past twenty years,
Plymouth Art in the Park has grown from a small group of artists in Kellogg
Park to a weekend extravaganza that incorporates 400 artists from all over the
country, nearly 200,000 attendees, music, food, children's activities and much
more. Plymouth residents and businesses again voted Plymouth Art in the Park
the number one event in Plymouth. Come see what all the fuss is about from
Friday, July 13th to Sunday, July 15th as Art in the Park once again takes
over the streets of Plymouth. As always, people of all ages are welcome to
view the artwork and participate in all of the activities for free.
This year, Plymouth Art in the Park will offer an exciting combination of
old favorites and new attractions, including a new shuttle bus service. Gone
are the days of driving aimlessly around Plymouth looking for a parking space
when all you really want to do is shop. This year, people will be able to
park for free at Compuware Arena and take a convenient shuttle bus right
 downtown.
As it has been from the beginning, the focus of Plymouth Art in the Park
is the art. What makes this event unique is the truly diverse range of work
that is available from clay to glass to jewelry, in dimensions that range from
tiny to wall-size. Serious art collectors, people looking for something fun
to put in their garden, and everyone in between will find something at
 Plymouth Art in the Park.
Plymouth Art in the Park will again host the variety of kid's activities
that people have come to know and love, with projects in all sorts of media,
from sand to candy. In addition, the Kid's Mural will be back again this year
thanks to the support of Nationwide Insurance. Children of all ages are
invited to come to Kellogg Park to help paint a huge mural. The finished
masterpiece will be donated to the Children's Hospital in Detroit.
     Plymouth Art in the Park hours are 12-7 p.m. on Friday, 10 a.m. - 7 p.m.
on Saturday, and 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. on Sunday. For information please call the
Plymouth Chamber of Commerce at 734-453-1540. For directions call the city of
 Plymouth at 734-453-1234.
Festival Sponsors: Nationwide Insurance, Wells Fargo, and Dunkin Donuts.
