Pointsec Mobile Technologies Earns Entrust-Ready(TM) Status

Pointsec 4.0 Enhances PKI Investment, Provides Access Control With Single

Sign-On Feature

Apr 03, 2001, 01:00 ET from Pointsec Mobile Technologies, Inc.

WALNUT CREEK, Calif., April 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Pointsec Mobile
Technologies, Inc. (www.pointsec.com), a leading developer of security control
software for PC's and mobile devices, announced today that its award-winning
flagship product, Pointsec(TM) 4.0, has earned Entrust-Ready(TM) status from
Entrust Technologies Inc., the leading global provider of Trust Relationship
Management(TM) solutions. With the ease of a Single Sign-On feature,
enterprises can now use Entrust/PKI(TM) profiles to manage access to PCs and
laptops protected by Pointsec 4.0. Further, if an Entrust/PKI user certificate
is revoked, Pointsec will automatically deny that user access to the device.
This powerful combination of Entrust/PKI with Pointsec 4.0 provides
organizations the ability to leverage their investment in PKI to secure access
to the most vulnerable entry points into the Network.
The Entrust-Ready designation applies to products that have passed testing
for compatibility and interoperability with Entrust Technologies'
market-leading PKI software. Pointsec Mobile Technologies is also a member of
the Entrust(R) Alliance Developer Program, a testing and co-marketing program
that provides vendors with a complete framework for developing and promoting
 security solutions with Entrust Technologies.
"The integration of Pointsec 4.0 with Entrust/PKI is the result of a long
collaboration," said Paul Doscher, executive vice president, marketing and
business development, Entrust Technologies, Inc. "Pointsec's ability to
control access into PCs in conjunction with Entrust/PKI is an important
innovation that provides enhanced data security for our customers. With
Pointsec, users can take advantage of an added layer of security for all the
data, applications and system files on PCs and laptops. We are committed to
working with organizations like Pointsec to develop products that pioneer new
 ways to leverage Entrust/PKI investments."
Pointsec provides complete device access control by encrypting the
operating system, all drives and resident data, including deleted files and
unused space on PCs and laptops. Pointsec's combination of boot-level user
authentication and full hard disk encryption ensures only authorized users can
access information on desktops and mobile computing devices. This means that
Entrust profiles (digital certificates) are protected by an additional layer
of encryption, and thus cannot be located or copied by unauthorized persons.
Analyst firm, the Aberdeen Group, estimates that 98 percent of global 2000
enterprises will be using PKI before 2003. Pointsec simplifies security
procedures for users by offering a single product that provides a one-step
login onto multiple operating systems and multiple networks, as well as PKI
 software-secured applications.
"This is a symbiotic win-win relationship between Entrust Technologies and
Pointsec," said John Muir, president, Pointsec Mobile Technologies, Inc. "This
development underscores our commitment to integrate Pointsec into first-tier
security and administration products. PKI secures and authenticates
transactions, Pointsec secures the devices on which those transactions occur
and are stored. We're using our technology to develop products that leverage
investments in PKI and bring added value to our customers."
