    LAS VEGAS, April 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Pointshare's Community Healthcare
Connection (CHC) division, which focuses on connecting local healthcare
communities with secure, online business services, announced today it has
signed an agreement with the State of Nevada to make Nevada Medicaid
eligibility information available online. This will mark the first time local
healthcare professionals will be able to access eligibility information online
for the more than 120,000 Nevada Medicaid covered lives. This service
provides eligibility information in a manner that meets strict federal
 guidelines for confidentiality.
Instead of using the phone or fax, healthcare professionals now have
instant, secure access via a personal computer to the most current member
eligibility data for their patients covered under Nevada Medicaid and
Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP), called Nevada Check Up Program.
Eligibility data includes recipient information, eligibility effective dates,
decision date, and Primary Care Number (PCN) contact information for
recipients who select a managed care option. Medicare eligibility information
will also be available for Medicaid recipients who have Medicare coverage.
The State of Nevada has also certified Pointshare as a source of Nevada
Medicaid information, which means eligibility information confirmed through
Pointshare's service will be guaranteed for payment. Accessing eligibility
information online significantly reduces the time and money healthcare
 professionals spend determining eligibility.
"The State of Nevada is committed to making eligibility information easily
available to our region, and we see Pointshare's CHC division as a trusted
partner in doing so," said Charles Duarte, administrator for the Division of
Health Care Financing and Policy for the State of Nevada. "Through this
partnership, we will improve access to necessary eligibility information and
help healthcare professionals better serve Nevada Medicaid and Check Up
 clients."
"Members of the Nevada healthcare community have said they need better
access to eligibility information, including Nevada Medicaid," said Rick
Rubin, Community Healthcare Connection division president. "We worked
together to sign this agreement to provide secure, streamlined access to
Nevada Medicaid, which greatly enhances our existing eligibility service for
 the Nevada healthcare community."
"Making Nevada eligibility information available online will provide
significant administrative relief for Nevada healthcare professionals," said
Lawrence Matheis, executive director of the Nevada State Medical Association.
"We are very excited that Nevada Medicaid eligibility information will be more
 easily accessible to healthcare professionals."
"Healthcare professionals in hospitals throughout the state are anxious to
have a secure way to access eligibility information for patients covered by
Nevada Medicaid," said Bill Welch, president and CEO of the Nevada Hospital
Association. "This service will save hospital staff time and money,
streamline reimbursement through guaranteed payment -- and ultimately increase
 the quality of care."
