Inventor of TOPSwitch Promoted to President and COO

    SAN JOSE, Calif., April 25 /PRNewswire/ --
 Power Integrations, Inc. (Nasdaq:   POWI) today announced key management
 changes, effective immediately:
 
     President and COO
     Balu Balakrishnan, vice president, engineering and strategic marketing,
 has been named president and chief operating officer, a new position.
 Mr. Balakrishnan will be responsible for sales, marketing, operations,
 engineering and quality assurance, reporting directly to Howard Earhart, chief
 executive officer and chairman of the board.
     "When we decided to realign our organizational structure to better meet
 our future growth objectives Balu was the logical choice to fill the newly
 created position of president and COO," commented Howard Earhart, CEO.

     Mr. Balakrishnan joined Power Integrations in 1989, less than a year after
 the founding of the company, and has served the company in key engineering and
 business management roles since then.  He is the chief inventor of the
 company's innovative TOPSwitch(TM) and TinySwitch(TM) technologies and holds
 27 patents.  For its energy efficiency features, TinySwitch(TM) won Discover
 Magazine's 1999 Award for Technological Innovation in the Environment
 Category.
     Mr. Balakrishnan has more than 20 years of engineering and management
 experience, including as product line manager in the Networking and Advanced
 Peripherals Group at National Semiconductor Corporation.  He holds an M.S.E.E.
 from the University of California, Los Angeles, and a B.S.E.E. from Bangalore
 University, India.
 
     Vice President, Engineering
     Derek Bell, former vice president, engineering for Synopsys Professional
 Services Group, is joining the company as vice president, engineering.
 Mr. Bell's responsibilities will include overseeing the company's newly
 combined Engineering and Technology groups.  Vladimir Rumennik has resigned as
 vice president of technology but will continue to work with the company in a
 consulting role on an indefinite basis.  Mr. Bell joins the company with more
 than 30 years of engineering and engineering management experience.  His
 experience includes management and business development positions at Cirrus
 Logic, National Semiconductor and Signetics Corporation among others.
 
     Vice President of Operations
     Tom Roesler has been promoted to vice president of operations, replacing
 Rick Davies who has resigned from his position to accept an opportunity at a
 start-up company.  Mr. Roesler joined the company from National Semiconductor
 in 1999 and served most recently as director of operations engineering.
