PPL Schedules April 25 Webcast of Analyst Meeting; Company to Hold Annual Meeting April 27

    ALLENTOWN, Pa., April 19 /PRNewswire/ -- PPL Corporation (NYSE:   PPL) plans
 to release its consolidated first quarter 2001 earnings results after the
 stock market closes on the afternoon of Tuesday, April 24.

     In conjunction with the release of its first quarter earnings results, the
 company invites interested parties to listen to the live Internet Webcast of
 management's meeting with financial analysts in New York at 8 a.m. (EDT) on
 Wednesday, April 25.  That presentation will cover first quarter 2001
 earnings, a strategic initiative decision by the company and the company's
 revised earnings forecasts for 2001 and 2002.
     William F. Hecht, PPL chairman, president and chief executive officer, and
 John R. Biggar, executive vice president and chief financial officer, will
 conduct the analyst meeting on April 25, which will be available online live,
