MINNEAPOLIS, April 30 /PRNewswire/ -- PPT VISION (Nasdaq: PPTV) announced
today that it has received an order for a PPT861(TM) 3D inspection system from
Seagate Technology, the world's leading provider of storage technology for
internet, business and consumer applications. This PPT861 system will be used
for profiling and inspection of suspension assemblies, which are critical
 components of hard disk drives.
The PPT861 is a high speed, 3D profiling and inspection system. Utilizing
 PPT's patented Scanning Moire Interferometry(TM) (SMI(TM)) 3D technology, the
system performs 3D measurement at speeds many times faster than traditional
approaches. The PPT861 is a complete 3D measurement solution focused on
specific applications in the electronics and semiconductor industries
including electronic connectors, disk drive components, and leaded and bumped
 semiconductor components.
"The receipt of this order by our Microelectronics Systems Division (MSD)
is very significant to our focused selling efforts in the hard disk drive
industry," stated Mr. Joseph C. Christenson, President of PPT VISION. "The
PPT861 3D inspection system is currently providing other hard drive component
manufacturers the capability of both 100% in-line and stand-alone 3D
inspection. The PPT861 is the only system on the market capable of high-speed
100% in-line inspection of hard drive suspensions. We expect the PPT861 3D
inspection system to be a significant catalyst to future growth for PPT
 VISION," concluded Mr. Christenson.
PPT VISION, Inc. designs, manufactures, markets, and integrates 2D and 3D
machine vision-based automated inspection systems for manufacturing
applications. Machine vision-based inspection systems enable manufacturers to
