Pre-Paid Legal Extends Time for Filing of Annual Report on Form 10-K

    ADA, Okla., April 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Pre-Paid Legal Services, Inc.
 (NYSE:   PPD), announced today that its Annual Report on Form 10-K required to
 be filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission ("SEC") on April 2, 2001
 will not be timely filed.
     As previously reported, the SEC has inquired into Pre-Paid's accounting
 for commission advances.  The Company subsequently received additional
 comments from the SEC staff and is reviewing these comments with its
 independent public accountants.  Pre-Paid intends to continue working with the
 staff to resolve their questions.  As a result, Pre-Paid is unable to finalize
 its financial statements for the year ended December 31, 2000, and has filed
 an automatic 15 day extension of time to file its Annual Report on Form 10-K.
