Preformed Line Products Files Form 10 Registration Statement with the Securities and Exchange Commission

    CLEVELAND, April 30 /PRNewswire/-- Preformed Line Products Company
 (OTC Bulletin Board:   PLIN) announced today that it has filed a Registration
 Statement on Form 10 under the Securities Exchange Act of 1934, as amended
 (the "Exchange Act"), with the Securities and Exchange Commission.  After the
 Registration Statement is declared effective by the Securities and Exchange
 Commission, Preformed Line Products will become a "reporting" company under
 the Exchange Act and be obligated to file reports such as Form 10-Ks, Form
 10-Qs and Form 8-Ks with the Securities and Exchange Commission.  In
 connection with the filing of the Form 10, Preformed Line Products intends to
 file an application with the Nasdaq to have Preformed Line Products common
 shares traded on the Nasdaq system.  While there can be no assurance of when
 or if the Form 10 will be declared effective, Preformed Line Products expects
 the Securities and Exchange Commission to declare the Form 10 effective
 sometime in the late second or early third quarter of 2001.
