BOSTON, Aug. 11, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Greater Boston's communications professionals are rallying their peers to sign up for the Boston Marathon® Jimmy Fund Walk presented by Hyundai, the nation's most successful charity walk, which raises money for cancer care and research at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
The communications industry sign-up initiative, started by Brodeur Partners, is called "Boston Communications Cares" and officially kicks off Tuesday, Aug. 18.
WHO'S JOINING BOSTON COMMUNICATIONS CARES: Communications pros who work in agencies, corporations, governments, nonprofits, small businesses and home offices doing marketing, PR, branding, advertising, social media and website work.
WHAT: Boston Communications Cares is a friendly "coopetition" to see how many people the industry can register – including friends, family and business associates – for the September Walk, and how much money they can raise.
WHEN: The official kickoff of the Boston Communications Cares initiative takes place Tuesday, Aug. 18 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Back Bay Social Club.
Anyone in the industry is invited to attend and bring friends, family and co-workers. Refreshments will be offered. Attendees who register for the Walk will be entered in an on-the-spot raffle for a pair of Red Sox tickets.

THE WALK: The Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk takes place on Sunday, September 27 on the historic Boston Marathon® course. More than 8,500 participants are expected to walk from 3 miles to 26.2 miles to raise money for the Jimmy Fund for lifesaving adult and pediatric patient care and cancer research at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. The event aims to raise more than $8.2 million in 2015, building on a 26-year fundraising total of more than $100 million.
