Apr 19, 2001, 01:00 ET from Computer Sciences Corporation

EL SEGUNDO, Calif., April 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Computer Sciences Corporation
(NYSE: CSC) announced today that Progressive Insurance (NYSE: PGR) has
licensed its S3+ billing and collection system.
One of the nation's largest automobile insurance companies, Progressive
will be billing customers using S3+'s real-time capabilities for personal auto
and commercial auto insurance in 48 states and the District of Columbia.
"Progressive is widely regarded as a technology innovator in insurance
applications, and we're excited to have the opportunity to work with such a
visionary company," said Ray August, executive vice president of Property and
Casualty Solutions for CSC's Financial Services Group. "Progressive is
committed to introducing technology to consumers that makes auto insurance
easier to understand, shop for, buy and own."
The company, for example, was the first to introduce interactive,
after-the-sale service on the Web through its "personal.progressive.com"
feature, the first to offer interactive quotes and buy-online capabilities,
and now offers consumers wireless access to progressive.com. By licensing
CSC's S3+ billing and collection system, Progressive can upgrade its billing
capabilities quickly without disrupting its pace of introducing technology in
 other areas.
In addition to real-time processing and browser-based options, S3+ billing
and collection is specifically designed for large P&C insurance companies to
speed the entire billing process. S3+ is highly customizable to support a
company's unique requirements and integrates seamlessly with other enterprise
applications. Supported collection methods include cash, lockbox, Optical
Character Reader (OCR), Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) and credit card.
"Progressive's selection of CSC confirms the value gained from our recent
acquisition of Mynd, formerly Policy Management Systems Corporation," said
Pete Boykin, president of CSC's Financial Services Group. "Functionally rich,
technologically advanced and fully customizable software packages are critical
tools in our strategy to bring business value to the global financial services
 industry through end-to-end IT solutions."

Progressive, with headquarters in Mayfield Village, Ohio, is one of the
nation's largest auto insurance companies. In business since 1937, the
company provides all drivers with competitive rates and 24-hour, in-person and
online services. The company sells its products over the phone at
1-800-AUTO-PRO, online at progressive.com and through more than
30,000 independent agencies throughout the U.S.

Computer Sciences Corporation, one of the world's leading consulting and
information technology (IT) services firms, helps clients in industry and
government achieve strategic and operational results through the use of
technology. The company's success is based on its culture of working
collaboratively with clients to develop innovative technology strategies and
solutions that address specific business challenges.
