#1 selling bagel will no longer be sold at Pure Foods due to incorrect

formulas

Feb 07, 2004, 00:00 ET from Pure Foods, LLC

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif., Feb. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- According to KCBS News in
Los Angeles, Low-Carb Emporium, a manufacturer of numerous low carb products
claims 15 grams of carbs per bagel. "Our lab found triple the carbs -- 55.
Low-carb Emporium says they just re-did the formulas and will be getting lab
reports on new formulas soon," said KCBS News.
"These are our #1 selling item in our low carb markets," said Pure Foods
Co-Founder Stephen A. Bikoff. "9 out of 10 customers in our Santa Monica low
carb market purchase Low Carb Emporium Bagels. A bag of 6 Low Carb Emporium
Bagels sells for $6.79 and we can't keep them in stock," said Bikoff.
"The first week I tried the bagels I gained 3 pounds and couldn't figure
out why," said Pure Foods customer Larry Saltzman.
"We would be doing a disservice to our customers if we continued to sell
them knowing the labeling is inaccurate so we took the 144 units off our
shelves and returned them today," said Bikoff.
