Quartz Watch Recharges Like a Cell Phone...One Charge Lasts Over a Year!

Apr 05, 2001, 01:00 ET from Dakota Watch Company

CINCINNATI, April 5 /PRNewswire/ -- You have to spend time and money
maintaining practically everything you buy...from cars, to homes, to
computers. Wouldn't it be nice to own a quartz watch that never needed a new
 battery?
Watch batteries always seem to die at the most inconvenient times. That
has been a reality that watch designers have struggled to change for years
says Marty Cooper, Co-President of Dakota Watch Company, a family owned watch
 manufacturing and retail company.
"New electromagnetic technology has now allowed us to design a watch that
should never need a battery replacement," says Cooper. "A watch battery
normally has a limited life span, but this watch is different, it can be re-
 charged as often as needed."
Every Rechargeable Electromagnetic Quartz (REQ) comes with a charger/night
stand, which transmits power to the watch and also allows the customer to see
the 'charging status' of the watch at a glance. Customers can literally charge
the REQ like a cell phone, but not as often.
"A full charge (36 hours) will last over a year," says Cooper, but we
suggest using the charger as a nightstand and simply charging the watch
 overnight every few months.
In addition to being rechargeable, the REQ is also tested to 330 feet
water resistance, has precision accuracy, is environmentally friendly (as you
do not discard the battery), and comes with a 10-Year warranty. Besides the
savings and convenience of no battery replacement, the selling price ($150-
 $225) is also an attraction.
The REQ is being introduced to the market for the first time this April
2001, exclusively at 200 Dakota Watch Company stores found on regional malls.
The REQ comes in 12 different styles designed to appeal to all different
 tastes and lifestyles.
