Radyne ComStream Announces $2.5 M in Orders for New Microwave Subsystems

Apr 27, 2001, 01:00 ET from Radyne ComStream

PHOENIX, April 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Radyne ComStream (Nasdaq: RADN; RADNW)
today announced the receipt of the 3rd major order to supply its new high
speed digital microwave subsystem, the MM-200, bringing the total to over
$2.5M since the introduction of the product line a few months ago. About
$1.8M is deliverable during Q-2 and Q-3 of 2001. The major portion of these
orders was received from Korea Telecom, an unnamed North American customer and
another major microwave radio system supplier. The first subsystems were
 shipped last month.
"The Digital Microwave Subsystem has enormous potential and the number of
orders we received before the product design was even completed, validated our
belief," said Bob Fitting, CEO of Radyne ComStream. "This new product once
again demonstrates the company's quick development and engineering skills."
The MM-200 allows analog modems to be converted to digital radios with the
capability of over 200 Megabits per second to provide nearly instant
infrastructure for Internet services and digital TV. The MM-200 uses the
highest available technology today including adaptive equalizing and forward
error correction. These technologies allow the digital signal to be more
tolerant of distortion in the signal path and of other shortcomings of the
analog radios. The MM-200 is a recently released product for Radyne ComStream
that is ideal for new microwave links as well as upgrades and retrofits.
