Apr 18, 2001, 01:00 ET from Rational Software Corporation

LEXINGTON, Mass., April 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Rational Software
(Nasdaq: RATL), the e-development company, today announced that registration
for the Rational User Conference 2001, "Blazing New Trails," is now live on
the Rational Web site. To be held July 22-26 in Denver, Colo., the conference
offers technical insight and tactical knowledge to better equip the Rational
software development community with industry-proven tools, services and best
 practices.
Keeping Rational customers on the pulse of software development, the
Rational User Conference 2001 allows attendees to create their agenda from
more than 200 technical sessions. Covering 10 tracks on topics spanning the
development lifecycle, the presentations are led by industry experts and
Rational engineers and focus on Rational product technology and best
practices. In addition, a comprehensive exhibit hall spotlights solutions and
 technologies from Rational Unified Partners.
In addition to the three-and-a-half day conference, Rational University is
offering confirmed attendees a select group of lecture and hands-on pre- and
post conference training sessions on a variety of Rational tools and
disciplines. Attendees will once again have the opportunity to attend a
complimentary Rational Suite(R) hands-on workshop. Back by popular demand,
the three-hour workshops will introduce attendees to the power of integrating
requirements management, visual modeling, configuration management and
automated testing into their current software development strategy.
Paul Levy and Mike Devlin, Rational's founders and software development
trailblazers, open the conference with their keynote, "Better Software Means
Better Business: Blazing New Trails to Success." The chairman and CEO,
respectively, will elaborate on Rational's lifecycle development tools and
solutions, the increased importance of software developers in our software-
centric economy, and customer implementation successes using the Rational
integrated solution of tools, processes and services.
Larry DeBoever, a world-renowned expert in enterprise-wide technical
architecture and systems integration, will deliver the industry keynote on
Tuesday, July 24. He has 28 years of IT experience, including systems
programming, network design, distributed systems, database and tool
development, and systems integration. Susan Butcher, four-time winner of the
Iditarod Dog Sled Race, will inspire the audience on Wednesday, July 25.
Relating her 'trailblazing' experiences as a professional "musher," dog
breeder, trainer and veterinary technician to the multi-faceted challenges
facing project managers and development teams, her keynote will illustrate the
teamwork, endurance, patience and skill that blazed many trails to her teams'
 success.
"The dynamics of software are changing. At the Rational User Conference
2001, attendees have exclusive access to the latest tools, trends and tricks
from the Rational community of technology leaders and industry influencers,
including invaluable peer-to-peer networking and knowledge sharing," said Eric
Schurr, senior vice president of Marketing for Rational Software. "Focusing
on the entire software development lifecycle, the conference offers crucial
product and industry insight for every member of the development team."
"As a Rational User Conference attendee, I have an opportunity to exchange
information with people from all over the world," said Richard Irving,
president of IrvNet. "Ideas are continually flowing back and forth. I've
also met with many Rational engineers and staff, allowing me to really get a
sense of who supports the tools that support me."
The 2001 Rational User Conference will be held July 22-26 at the Denver
Convention Center. Those registering before April 27, 2001 receive a special
$995 reduced rate. Each Full Conference Registration Fee includes: access to
