Ronson Rejects Steel Partners Demand

Apr 17, 2001, 01:00 ET from Ronson Corporation

    SOMERSET, N.J., April 17 /PRNewswire/ --
Ronson Corporation (Nasdaq: RONC; OTC Bulletin Board: RONCP) reported that the
Company had received a letter in which Steel Partners has demanded information
regarding the Company's agreements with certain of its consultants. The terms
of these agreements, each of which have been approved by the Company's Board
of Directors, have been fully disclosed in the Company's various SEC filings.
According to Ronson, this demand is just another attempt by Steel Partners
to harass the Company by publicly issuing baseless allegations and innuendo.
After review of the demand by Company counsel, Ronson determined that the
demand was not made for a proper purpose and failed to meet the requirements
 of New Jersey law.
