Apr 03, 2001, 01:00 ET from Logility

ATLANTA, April 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Logility, Inc. (Nasdaq: LGTY), the
leading supplier of business-to-business collaborative commerce solutions to
power e-Business and optimize the supply chain, announced today the third
annual SAILS (Superior Achievement Implementing Logility Solutions) Awards.
These awards recognize Logility customers who have implemented and achieved
substantial bottom-line results through the usage of Logility Voyager
 Solutions(TM).
Awards were presented in three categories to recognize new
implementations, business innovation and B2B collaborative commerce leadership
achieved through supply chain optimization in the selected corporations. These
categories included "Setting Sail with Logility," "Logility Leadership Award"
and "Sailing to New Heights with Logility."
The "Setting Sail with Logility Award" highlighted companies who have
demonstrated an on-going commitment to collaborative commerce initiatives.
This award was presented to companies representing various industries, such as
food and beverage, consumer packaged goods, pharmaceutical, retail, hi-
 tech/electronic, telecommunications, automotive and more.
The "Logility Leadership Award" recognized customers who have
significantly improved their business process, developed an innovative
solution for supply value chain, demonstrated a leadership role in the
expansion of the supply chain process or have demonstrated an on-going
commitment and leadership role in the expansion of supply chain and e-Business
improvement. This award was presented to Ashley Furniture and Pharmavite.
Ashley Furniture was able to optimize inventory, integrate their supply chain
network, and improve customer satisfaction -- achieving a recognizable ROI in
the first year of operation. Capitalizing on Logility Voyager Solutions CPFR-
compliant applications, Pharmavite gained a 10% increase in sales, 5% increase
in forecast accuracy, 2% decrease in operations costs, 15% decrease in
distribution/handling and a 2% decrease in asset management.
In memory of the leadership and innovation that John Hewson contributed to
Eastman Chemical Company, Logility and the industry, the "Sailing to New
Heights with Logility" award was renamed to the "John Hewson Sailing to New
Heights with Logility" award. This award recognizes the elite Logility
customer who has used B2B collaborative commerce via the Internet to take
relationships with their trading partners to the next level. This customer
has been the most innovative in its efforts to develop and/or implement best
practice business processes throughout their supply chain. Mercury Marine,
the world leader in marine propulsion systems and a division of the Brunswick
Corporation, was presented the "John Hewson Sailing to New Heights with
Logility" award for their global supply chain network powered by Logility. In
its first year in operation, Logility's software enabled Mercury Marine to cut
its inventory of non-current products in half going into its new model year,
 saving the company millions.
"Mercury Marine wasn't expecting to see such a large jump so quickly when
it switched from its old manual-based system to Logility," explained Bruce
Abraham, Mercury Marine's director of logistics planning and international
distribution. "Mercury Marine's real goal was to gain greater control over
its worldwide inventory, allowing the company to dynamically allocate product
to areas where demand is highest. Through Logility Voyager Solutions we have
been able to achieve a 53% reduction in non-current inventory, a 56% reduction
in S&OP process time and a 60% improvement in the frequency of establishing
production mix schedules resulting in much greater responsiveness to known
customer demands." Moreover, Abraham says, "Logility's forecasting,
simulation and collaboration capabilities allow Mercury Marine to make more
accurate decisions about inventory allocations for their 17 world-wide
 distribution centers."
"This award is a testament to the belief and efforts of a number of
Mercury Marine people around the world who were willing to take on the
challenge to improve our collaborative supply chain planning process
throughout our global distribution network; including the ongoing support
provided by the Logility staff during the process," added Abraham.
