Bock's recent expansion in Salt Lake City extends a relationship the company
has had with the city that extends back to 1956. Otto Bock's first
distribution outlet in North America was established in Salt Lake City in
1956. From 1956, until 1958, all Otto Bock prosthetic and orthotic components
sold in the U.S. were distributed from Salt Lake City.
The original distribution center was at 375 W. Fourth St.
Salt Lake City was selected as the original North American distribution
center because of a long-standing relationship with several prosthetic
industry leaders located in the area.
Otto Bock established a new North American headquarters in Minneapolis,
Minn., in 1958, and subsequently closed its distribution center in Salt Lake.
Otto Bock returned to Salt Lake City in 1995 when it acquired the Zero Gravity
Corporation, which is a maker of high-technology pressure relief cushions for
the health care industry. This Otto Bock manufacturing site is located at
12577 South 265 West, in Draper.
