    MONTREAL, April 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Sand Technology's (Nasdaq: SNDT)
newly-formed Government marketing unit has already begun making its mark,
today announced Sand's Chief Operating Officer George Wicker. "Significant
Phase 1 projects are under way in U.S. and Canadian federal government
agencies, with initial orders valued at over $500,000 already in
implementation," Wicker reports. "And, the positive experiences from earlier
installations at the National Security Agency in Maryland and Human Resources
Canada in Ottawa are filling the pipeline of government opportunities for our
 Nucleus product."
"Ever since the U.S. Census Bureau became the first organization to
utilize a computer decades ago, governments have been relying on sophisticated
systems to handle massive amounts of data," explains Mario Meroni, Sand
Technology Vice President of Business Development-Government. "Today, all
government agencies are challenged to deliver information directly and safely
to their citizens while protecting the data from hackers, and Nucleus has a
unique, powerful solution that allows them to do so."
"Nucleus is easily implemented, scales up exceptionally well, and
continues to provide breathtaking performance to thousands of concurrent
users," Meroni continues. "Whenever we demonstrate Nucleus, we get the
contract. Nucleus is quick to set-up, operates at lower cost and provides
information that others find difficult to deliver."
Sand develops and markets the revolutionary and award winning Nucleus data
warehousing solution which is available for the 64-bit Unix and the 32-bit
Microsoft Windows NT and 95/98/2000 platforms, as well as IBM's(r) iSeries
