SANTA CLARA, Calif., April 16 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Santa Clara Convention Center's $37 million expansion is on schedule to open for business in early Summer, 2009. The 22,400 square foot addition, plus lobby and pre-function area, will bring Silicon Valley's premier meeting facility up to 302,000 square feet. The new space, recently named the "Mission City Ballroom," will feature six plasma screens in its main lobby. Inside, there are three long narrow skylights that allow for natural lighting. Also, one wall of the ballroom is all glass and has the ability to blackout if needed.
Other features of the new space include earth tone carpeting which adds to the room's natural ambiance and a new adjacent kitchen that allows for higher quality food and beverage service. The ballroom's versatile space will be used in multiple configurations and can host meetings in Theatre (2,700), Classroom (1,119), Banquet (1,250), or Exhibit (111 booths) style. The space includes 5,150 square feet of prefunction space.
