PLYMOUTH, Wis., Aug. 11, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Sartori Company was awarded three gold medals at the International Cheese Awards held in Nantwich, Cheshire in the U.K. Cognac BellaVitano® was named "Best USA Cheese", SarVecchio® Parmesan won the "Cheese with Health Benefits" category and Merlot BellaVitano took gold in the "Cheese, Sweet Additives." This year the competition had a record-setting number of entries with over 4,600 cheese and dairy products from an all-time record of 31 countries.
"We're honored to win the 'Best USA Cheese' title because we strive each day to make the best cheese in the world. We start with the freshest, highest quality milk from our patron dairy farms," shares Chad Vincent, Sartori Chief Marketing Officer. "We're in a fortunate position to have teamed up with these dairy farmers who have been with Sartori for many generations, most of which are family owned and operated, just like us."
Sartori's farm-to-fork philosophy has served them well over the years, garnering over 240 awards from national and international competitions. Cognac BellaVitano has received over 5 awards since 2010, including another "Best USA Cheese" at the 2011 World Cheese Awards, as well as "third best cheese in the world" at the same competition. "Each day, our team members and extended family such as our patron farmers, take pride in their hard work. These awards serve as a testament to that," adds Vincent.
SarVecchio Parmesan, Sartori's most decorated cheese, received a medal for its great health benefits. The extra-aged (20+ months) Parmesan is packed full of beneficial protein, vitamins and minerals per ounce including: more protein than red meat, containing 9 grams, vitamins B12 and B2, both good for healthy skin, hair and eyes, and roughly 33% of the recommended daily allowance for calcium. Not only is SarVecchio Parmesan a healthy cheese, but it's also an unprocessed, pure food that is near lactose-free.
Sartori also received a silver medal for their Balsamic BellaVitano. Citrus Ginger BellaVitano, which was just released in January, took home a bronze.
