SCANA Security is Purchased by ADT

    COLUMBIA, S.C., April 3 /PRNewswire/ -- SCANA Corporation (NYSE:   SCG)
 announced today that it has completed the sale of SCANA Security, the
 Company's home security and alarm monitoring division, to ADT Security
 Services, Inc., a part of the Tyco Fire & Security Services unit of Tyco
 International Ltd. (NYSE:   TYC, LSE: TYI), in a transaction valued at
 approximately $24.5 million.
     "We are pleased to have successfully closed this transaction, which is
 expected to result in a one-time gain of about 4 cents per share in the first
 quarter of 2001," said Kevin Marsh, SCANA's senior vice president and chief
 financial officer.  "Proceeds from the sale will be used primarily to reduce
 indebtedness at the holding company."
     SCANA Security serves approximately 15,000 residential customers, offering
 electronic alarm installation and monitoring services from a central
 monitoring station and business office in Columbia, SC and branch offices in
 Charleston, Myrtle Beach, Bluffton and Aiken, SC; Macon, GA; and Cary, NC.
 The company also has 2,400 authorized dealer customers and monitors 2,800
 accounts for other security firms.  SCANA Security, which was founded in 1997,
 had been ranked as the 54th largest residential security monitoring business
 in the U.S.
