Schedules Change Sunday for SEPTA Regional Rail Routes R2, R5, R6 and R8

    PHILADELPHIA, April 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Schedules will change on Sunday,
 April 29, for SEPTA regional rail Routes R2 Marcus Hook-Wilmington/Newark, R5
 Lansdale-Doylestown/Paoli-Thorndale and R6 Norristown.
     New timetables are available now at Market-East, Suburban and 30th Street
 Stations and SEPTA sales offices.  For schedule information riders should call
 215-580-7800.  Riders can order free copies of the timetables through the mail
 by calling 215-580-7777.  Schedule information is also available on the SEPTA
 website at www.septa.org.
     Schedule changes will include:
 
     *Route R2 Marcus Hook-Wilmington/Newark, weekday early morning service
 will be altered with the train currently scheduled to leave Suburban Station
 for Newark Station at 5:50 a.m. rescheduled to leave at 5:44 a.m. instead.
     Afternoon outbound (to Newark) service from Suburban Station will also
 change with the 3:27 p.m. train rescheduled to leave at 3:17 p.m.  In
 addition, the train that currently leaves Suburban Station at 4:13 p.m. will
 now leave at 4:09 p.m. and stop at Churchman's Crossing Station en route to
 Newark.
     Inbound (to Suburban Station) service will be altered as the 6:07 a.m.
 train from Wilmington Station will be rescheduled to leave at 6:02 a.m. while
 the 5:04 p.m. train from Newark Station will leave at 4:48 p.m.
 
     *Route R5 Lansdale-Doylestown, weekday evening peak hour service will be
 improved for riders traveling to Elkins Park as the train scheduled to leave
 Suburban Station at 5:23 p.m. will now stop at Elkins Park Station at
 5:45 p.m. en route to Lansdale.
 
     *Route R5 Paoli-Thorndale, a new weekday morning outbound train will
 improve service for riders traveling to Paoli Station and connecting there
 with SEPTA bus Route 206 which serves employment centers in the Greater Valley
 area.  The service is funded through a Federal Transit Administration Access
 to Jobs grant.
     The new outbound (to Thorndale) train will leave North Broad Station at
 5:30 a.m. and Suburban Station at 5:43 a.m. and then stop at 30th Street,
 Overbrook, Ardmore, Haverford, Bryn Mawr, Villanova, Radnor, St. Davids,
 Wayne, Strafford, Devon and Berwyn Stations en route to Paoli.  The train will
 then make stops at all stations between Paoli and Thorndale Station.
 
     *Route R6 Norristown, weekday service will be improved for riders
 traveling to and from Spring Mill Station as the Schuylkill Flyer express
 trains will add the station as a stop en route.  The Schuylkill Flyer express
 trains leave from Elm Street Station in Norristown at 6:58 a.m. en route to
 Center City and from Suburban Station at 5:14 p.m. en route to Norristown.
 Riders will find that parking at Spring Mill Station has been enhanced with
 the addition of 100 spaces.
 
     *Route R8, in order to better coordinate service with Amtrak there will be
 minor service adjustments to scheduled arrival times at Chestnut Hill West and
 Fox Chase Stations for several weekday trains.  These minor retimings will be
 included in a notice posted at stations along the route.  A new Route R8
 timetable, however, will not be issued until June when additional service
 changes will be required due to an upcoming track project.
