Apr 05, 2001, 01:00 ET from Schwarz Williams Companies, Inc.

MINNEAPOLIS, April 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Schwarz Williams Companies, Inc., a
human resource (HR) services firm, has acquired the insurance portfolio of
Minnesota Medical Business Resources (MMBR), a wholly owned subsidiary of the
Minnesota Medical Association and Hennepin Medical Society. Terms were not
 disclosed.
The acquisition gives Schwarz Williams exclusive rights to market and
service individual life, health and long-term disability products directly to
the 9,500 members of the two medical associations. Schwarz Williams' broad
range of insurance and financial planning products and services, including
long-term care insurance, financial planning, estate planning, retirement
programs and property and casualty coverages are new valued-added services for
 physicians, their families and employees.
"Our experience with other statewide associations has proven that
supporting a membership with common goals and values results in long-term
relationships and mutual benefits," according to F. David Williams, chief
executive officer and president of Schwarz Williams Companies. Schwarz
Williams is currently the endorsed benefits provider for associations such as
the Minnesota Council of Nonprofits, the Greater Minneapolis Daycare
Association and the Veterinary Hospitals Association.
Schwarz Williams offers a full menu of services that can be either
integrated into a complete HR program or sold separately to individuals,
families or employee groups. Insurance products are available from a wide
variety of carriers. Fee-based services that can save time and money,
especially for small clinics without HR departments, include HR consulting and
financial planning services, COBRA, flex administration, consolidated billing,
 and payroll support.
"This agreement will provide more options and value to our members -- busy
physicians who appreciate a straightforward approach and access to the most
up-to-date resources that the marketplace offers," according to George Lohmer,
chief operating officer for MMBR. MMBR continues to offer its non-insurance
products and services including credit union services, office supply program,
auto lease and purchase programs, medical transportation program, and a
 mortgage discount program.
